Solar Powered Signs, Use Sun’s Energy to Save Money, Save Lives

Many people have noticed that solar powered stop signs have been popping up all over the country in order to help people notice the stop signs and avoid accidents.  Solar powered signs help companies and cities or municipalities save hundreds of thousands of dollars in utility costs every year by using the sun’s energy instead of electricity to power the flashing lights on these solar powered signs.

Solar powered signs can help keep traffic flowing and pedestrians safe from harm because many of the solar powered signs come with flashing lights that draw attention to what the sign is trying to convey to the drivers or pedestrians.  Flashing lights have proven to be effective when drawing attention to the signs better than the metal counterparts that simply show a number, drawing or warning that goes unnoticed when someone is driving too fast or is preoccupied as people sometimes are when driving.

Solar powered signs can also be used to announce the use of chemicals or gases in factories and power plants or where fumes sometimes accumulate such as where candles are made, all this to help protect the workers.

The use of solar powered signs can be seen along highways throughout many states to help save on electrical costs because these solar powered signs use the sun’s energy rather than electricity to power the flashing lights that help alert people to what is ahead.  There are also solar powered digital speed limit signs that can be preprogrammed to change to a lower number when traffic is at its busiest and higher when traffic is lighter.  Many of these solar powered signs save countless amounts of money for their cities who are sometimes strapped for funds to pay for road improvements.  By having these solar traffic signs, both lives and energy are saved.

The idea behind the flashing solar powered signs is that more people will notice the flashing lights on the signs then the plain generic signs.  Drivers tend to be preoccupied with the day’s events or just a number of things and sometimes miss important signs such as pedestrian crossings, railroad crossings, and heavy equipment or farm equipment crossings that dot the highways along many routes.  The flashing lights on the solar signs help to bring attention to these important signs and help the drivers heed the warnings.

A solar powered traffic sign helps save energy by using the sun’s heat to power the flashing lights, which in turn helps save lives by alerting drivers who might not otherwise have seen a regular metal sign.
