If you don’t mind buying other people’s items, then you’re bound to find something that would be perfect in your home.

Even if it economy were not heading south, many soon-to-be married couples would still be shopping at pawn shops for unique or antique bridal settings that people have given up after a loved one has died or due to a divorce.  In addition to bridal sets, there are often beautiful pins, earrings, bracelets, necklaces and all sorts of other rings that were once a part of someone else’s life that now could be part of your life. 

Additionally, many people who are in need of extra income are forced to sell off their valuables and pawn shops are all too willing to help by giving them fair market value in exchange for their valuables.  There are two ways a pawn shop could work for a person who needs money.  One is that they take their valuables, such as jewelry or guns, into the pawn shop and have them evaluated and then sell them directly to the pawn shop for cash.  The other option is to take out a loan on your valuables and then pay the loan back and retrieve your items.  The guns, jewelry or other valuables work as collateral for the loan and if you do not return the money then the pawn shop is going to sell the items to gain back their money.  The only thing a pawn shop requires other than that the items be valuable is that you have a photo ID in order to make sure you are the person who owns the valuable so that they have your name and address to make sure that the property is not stolen.
