My children have started to become interested in candles. Ever since they made a candle holder at school they seem to like them. I have never really had many candles as I have always thought of them as something that you only need in power cuts and we have a couple of great torch lights for that. However, the children insisted that we try out their candle holders and so we bought some soy candles and tried them out. We turned off the lights and it was dark outside, so the children could really see what it was like to just have a room filled with candlelight. We had great fun explaining to them about what it was like before electricity and how dark houses were as a result. We also explained about the soot that candles produced and how combined with the soot of fires they made houses pretty dirty. The children loved hearing about it and as a family we just loved being able to relax in the flickering candlelight. I have decided to find out where I can buy candles online so that we can have another candle lit evening as a family and I might even try having some romantic candle lit meals with my husband.
