There are many different jobs one could find with a kitchen contractor. A kitchen contracting company needs a white kitchen designs person in order to come up with the plans or designs for the remodeling projects. This person could have an architecture or design degree; however, experience goes a long way in obtaining a job in many cases.

There are many individual jobs that report to the kitchen contractor or foreman but do not work directly for this individual such as a bricklayer, cement worker, tile layer, electrician, plumber and cabinet maker. There are also drywall hangers, framers and painters if there are going to be an additional rooms or walls to be made in the remodel job. Most people don’t put carpeting in their kitchens; however there are flooring workers that would work closely with the rest of the construction crews and report directly to the kitchen contractor in charge or foreman on the job.

To become a plumber, electrician, bricklayer, cement worker, tile layer, cabinet maker, etc., one usually goes to a technical or trade school where the teachers are working or retired professionals in any given category and are able to show someone exactly how to perform a certain type of job. Technical and vocational or trade schools are very much ‘hands on’ style schools, not only a textbook learning environment.

A kitchen contractor or foreman usually has a degree, at least a bachelor’s degree, and the most experience of all the people he or she supervises. Some of the people on the job could be considered ‘sub-contractors,’ which mean they don’t work directly for the kitchen contractor but work for independent companies or for themselves.

Designers also design smaller parts of the kitchen such as kitchen backsplash designs or cabinet configurations and appliance settings.  

There are others who work for a kitchen contractor, such as secretaries and webmasters, who keep the office and the website – respectively – running smoothly. A secretary should be able to schedule a multitude of crews and jobs so that each one is done in a timely manner, coordinating each crew so that no one is left without something to do. And a webmaster or webhead makes sure the website is up and running as it should be. They would also engage in some online marketing such as search engine optimization, article exchanges and hyperlinking of articles in order to keep the website visible to the public and work coming in to the business.

Kitchen contractors may take on other jobs when the economy is bad and people do not want to spend their money on kitchen remodeling. Kitchen contractors could help build restaurants or a smoothie franchise. A kitchen contractor and their crew could handle the job at any place that contains a kitchen.
