Beach Towels, Baby Powder, Prevent Beach Sand from Scratching Floors

Many people love to head to the beach to relax in the sand, perhaps lay on their blue beach towels, while reading the latest mystery novel by their favorite author or simply catching up with a few winks of sleep under the warm sun.

Places like Florida, Texas, California, the Carolinas, Nevada, Mississippi and Georgia among others experience warm summer like whether nearly year-round and this is an opportunity for people to polish their skills as surfers, fishermen, snorkelers and sailing.

Where people in the Midwest and northern states have mud rooms in their homes, people in the southern states and those who live near the beach usually do not have a separate room off the back of the house to clean up before entering the main area of the home.  A mud room is where people come into the house and take off their muddy boots, snow covered hats and gloves and usually put on a pair of slippers in order to enter the rest of the house without dragging mud or water throughout the home.

Additionally, sand can scratch hardwood floors and other types of flooring and get caught in your vacuum cleaner which could cause you to spend more money on a new one.  If a sandy beach is a part of your weekly routine, then here are a few tips to make riding your family of sand before they come into the house easier.

Start by using baby powder to de-sand those sweaty, SPF-covered people who live in your home. Before applying the baby powder, ask everyone to use their own beach towels to knock off all the excess sand into the parking lot and then apply liberal amounts of baby powder to help soak up any excess lotions, sand and sweat.  Then take the beach towel and white baby powder off so that nothing gets into the car and is dragged home with you.

Before entering the home, have everyone once again shake out their beach towels and go over their bodies to make sure there is no sand they did not miss.  Then everyone needs to take a nice hot shower to get rid of any sand and lotion residue.
